the mother prescription brings people together through knowledge-sharing, conversation, and collaboration. This is a supportive but also informative place where clinicians, researchers, advocates, and people with lived experience exchange ideas and insight. This newsletter offers what is largely nonexistent in our cultural landscape: a discussion of serious mental illness and motherhood.

Who am I looking for?
I’m seeking experts and non-experts. Researchers and artists. Educators and doctors and those with lived experience. This is meant to be a holistic conversation.
Do you have expertise in reproductive psychiatry? Are you at the forefront of research? Are you a therapist or social worker or advocate who works in maternal mental health?
Or do you simply have a compelling story to tell of your own reproductive journey with serious mental illness?
Pitch me your idea.
What am I looking for?
I welcome the sharing of experiences and knowledge from a personal or professional perspective.
I’m seeking impact-driven essays on the intersection of serious mental illness and reproduction. Think about different ways to add value to your piece. Even if you are writing from lived experience, consider quoting from mental health professionals or other specialists.
Content will fall under these verticals:
Feature Essays (800-1,500 words)
What I’m Reading Now (~500 words)
Research Roundups (brief summaries of 2-3 of the latest studies)
Interviews (varying length)
A small sample of potential topics include:
Finding meaning after infertility
Psychotropic use & pregnancy
Ambiguous loss & childlessness
Suicidal ideation during pregnancy
Postpartum psychosis
Agency & the ethics of choice
Miscarriage & mental health
And this list is just the tip of the iceberg!
Pitch me
Join the conversation! If you would like to contribute, please send me a brief email outlining your idea with a few details about yourself and your background. Though not all pitches will be accepted, I will thoughtfully consider and respond to each and every one.
